Your weight issues are actually a symptom of hormonal imbalance. It is your hormones that dictate where and how your body stores fat. In order to succeed with long term weight loss you must identify the correct problem, your hormones. In fact you do not have a weight problem, you have hormonal imbalances. It is these hormonal imbalances that make losing weight difficult or impossible. No matter how much you diet and exercise your results will be limited due the powerful effects of these hormonal imbalances on your metabolism. First you must heal your metabolism by addressing deficiencies, reducing toxins, supporting liver function, and restoring digestion. Then you can successfully and efficiently lose weight. A healthy, functioning body must be established in order to successfully lose weight and keep it off. Your hormonal system cannot balance itself if your metabolism is damaged, organ and gland function is depressed, and if you are in a stress response. The stress response relates to the way your adrenal glands respond to prolonged chronic stress. The hormone cortisol is the hormone secreted by the adrenal glands for many normal body functions and enables your body to handle stress. Cortisol only becomes a problem when it exceeds normal physiological range and when the normal daily cortisol pattern has been disrupted. Restoring a normal cortisol level and pattern is also an essential step in weight loss and balancing your hormones.

We recommend and support our patients with the 6 steps to balancing hormones and successful weight loss.

Step 1 – Healthy lifestyle choices and stress modifications

Step 2 – Proper and balanced nutrition, supplements and detoxification to support liver, kidney, and digestive function

Step 3 – Herbs to help organs and glands to adapt and also can calm your system

Step 4- Glandulars to support and enhance specific gland function

Step 5 – Precursor bio-identical hormones to encourage the steroid pathway

Step 6- Bio-identical hormones to directly supplement deficient hormones

The key to success is to not skip steps. Each step builds on each other. Remember we are laying a foundation for health and function and there are no short cuts. For example herbs will not be as effective at supporting your adrenal glands if you are stressed out and deficient in vitamins and minerals. The best part of this approach is that most of the time by step 4 the body can produce the hormones it needs on its own and does not need hormone supplementation. The goal is to encourage the body to make its own hormones, and it can do this no matter what your age when given the support it needs to heal itself. The body is able to maintain normal hormone levels through all of life’s stages by innate design. This is not a “one size fits all” solution, every individual is different and unique. Identifying your bodies particular needs and providing a personalized program that is right for you is the key to reaching your health and wellness goals.

Billions of dollars are being spent annually on supplements, yet typically the purchasers, retailers, and salespeople do not know the difference between a synthetic, a crystalline, and a truly natural vitamin. They know little of how the supplements are grown, made, their characteristics, their attributes, their sources, or their uses. In no other industry has so much been spent by the consumer with little too no knowledge of the product.

What is the Difference between Natural and Synthetic?

Basically it is the difference between something that is living and something that is dead! That is a very big difference. On vitamin labels the word “natural” has no specific definition other than that the substance exists somewhere on the planet. The key is to look for “Whole Food Vitamins”. This means they are found in food sources, unaltered in any way that would change their molecular structure, their biological or biochemical combination, or their actions. Vitamins in their natural state exist as living complexes and never as an isolated single factor such as vitamin C or E. They have specific synergist co-factors, enzymes, phytonutrients and organic mineral activators that they are combined with and should remain as they occur in nature. A vitamin needs all of its synergists in order to function properly and fully. Most of these synergists have not yet been studied but are nevertheless important. Also organic food sources are ideal because they are more nutrient rich and contain no pesticides.

Crystalline vitamins come from a food source but have been treated with chemicals, solvents, heat and distillations to reduce it down to one specific crystalline vitamin. In this process all the synergist cofactors are destroyed and considered impurities. After this process, there is no longer anything natural or living in a crystalline vitamin.

Synthetic comes from a non-food, non- living source, in fact from chemicals. Basically a chemist reconstructs the exact structure of the crystalline molecule by chemically combining molecules from other sources. For example, Vitamin B1 is made from a coal tar derivative and ascorbic acid-vitamin C is made by reacting sugar with sulfuric acid.

The FDA’s regulations encourages this practice. Legally, you cannot call the whole foods Vitamin C Complex Vitamin C; only the fraction ascorbic acid can be called Vitamin C. Another example would be the fraction alpha tocopherol of the Vitamin E Complex. This is the only part that can be legally called Vitamin E. The whole complex is not recognized and therefore thrown out and yet this is not how it is recognized by the body.

Do Synthetic Vitamins Function as well as Natural Whole Foods Vitamins?

NO! Living systems are very complex and very specific in their needs for building and repairing themselves. Your body is always breaking down cells, organs, and tissues. Then rebuilding and repairing them. In order for this process to continue the body needs a continual supply of high-quality building material. We really are what we eat. If you put non quality foods in you will get a non quality body that dysfunctions. Even with all the scientific and medical research done so far we have only scratched the surface of the body’s intricate and complex design. To think we can alter and manipulate this design with-out consequence is foolish and arrogant.

The Fallacy of High Dosages Equals High Potency

A whole food natural supplement never comes in high dosages. It does not occur this way in nature nor does the body respond to high doses. In fact, large dosages of dead chemicals can be very disruptive to your bio-chemistry and deplete your reserves. As consumers we have been misled into believing that more is better. Nothing could be further from the truth. Small amounts of whole food vitamins with all of their naturally occurring synergist are far more potent and effective than high doses of synthetic imitation vitamins. Your body knows the difference.

In summary, you cannot repair and rebuild a living system with dead chemicals, it is simply impossible. A living system requires living vitamins and living foods. Eat whole foods and take whole foods supplements. Seek knowledge and truth. Seek holistic alternatives and doctors that strive to restore function and wellness. True doctors take the time to educate, guide, and inspire their patients.

Many people have a yeast-fungal infection and don’t even know it. This yeast, also known as candidiasis can invade the body just about anywhere. From the skin to your digestive tract. This toxic yeast overgrowth can cause a long list of health issues such as:

Depression

Anxiety attacks

Mood swings

Lack of concentration

Drowsiness

Poor memory

Headaches

Insomnia

Fatigue

Bloating

Constipation

Bladder infection

Menstrual cramps

Vaginal itching

Muscle and joint pain and inflammation

Skin problems

Many of these symptoms are rarely correlated to an internal yeast infection which goes undetected and untreated for years. You can develop candida overgrowth by consuming to much sugar, carbohydrates, alcohol, caffeine, prolonged antibiotic use, birth control pills and estrogen therapy, cortisone use, and chronic stress.

Candida produces 79 different toxins that diminish the immune system and degenerate the gastrointestinal tract, leading to conditions like leaky gut syndrome, Irritable bowel syndrome, dysbiosis, and overall poor digestion. It can present with obvious conditions such as nail fungus, acne, athletes foot, jock itch, dandruff, and even diaper rashes. It has also been implicated in fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, allergies, food intolerance, and even auto-immune diseases.

Candida also contributes to hormonal imbalances. Candida waste products act like “false estrogens” confusing your body into thinking it has made enough estrogen which signals a reduction in the production of your own real estrogen. This elevation of “false estrogens” can increase skin, digestive tract, and vaginal infections . This can be a viscious cycle because estrogen further feeds the yeast overgrowth making the candida infection worse. Birth control pills and estrogen therapy put women at a greater risk of candida overgrowth and recurring infections. Similar messages can also confuse the Thyroid and reduce the thyroxin hormone production leading to or worsening a hypothyroid problem.

The key to ridding yourself of candida is to not feed it and starve it out of your body. I suggest a comprehensive detoxification program that will help the body eliminate the toxins and that has a guided fasting period to starve the yeast. However, a word of caution there may be cold and flu-like symptoms. As the yeast dies off it lets off toxins that can make you feel hung-over. This shall pass as your body heals. Always take a pro-biotic to restore the good bacteria and avoid antibiotic use. If you are on the pill or estrogen therapy talk to your doctor about other alternative therapies such as natural supplements that support estrogen/progesterone production.

Tips to eliminating Yeast/Candida infection: Avoid acid producing foods; eat/drink foods that create an alkaline environment to balance your PH levels.

No sugar this includes fruit

Eat plain yogurt (no sugar added)

No alcohol

Low carbohydrate diet

No caffeine

Follow for 4 to 8 weeks – how fast yeast clears depends on how much yeast you have and how well you stick to the program. If symptoms persist consider consulting with a clinical nutritionist that has experience and consider getting a gastrointestinal health test.

There are many natural solutions and simple dietary changes that will rid your body of toxic yeast overgrowth. If you have any of the above symptoms or conditions yeast may be playing a role without you even knowing it. It’s time to starve out the yeast and allow your body to heal and restore function. Don’t be the fungus among us!

Degenerative diseases such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes are the body’s inability to maintain homeostasis and function. Traditional viewpoint of these conditions are that they are inevitable diseases that come with age and are the consequences of our genetics. What if I posed the question, “is it possible they are not diseases at all.” What if these conditions are actually “compensatory physiology?” This means your body is attempting to maintain homeostasis and is actually doing its job very well.

The truth is degenerative diseases are not diseases at all! A degenerative process is simply a loss or change in function due to the fact that the body is trying to compensate for a loss of function somewhere else. Take hypothyroidism, for example, a disease that is typically managed with drugs or surgery. The question to ask is, “why would a perfectly good thyroid stop working?” What traditional medicine cannot explain, it blames on genetics or age. The fact is, hypothyroidism can be a result of a deregulation of your adrenal gland function due to chronic, prolonged stress. Yet the proper adrenal test is never run and this goes misdiagnosed. The adrenal gland responds to stress while the thyroid regulates the rate at which your body uses energy. When your adrenal glands are over worked, not only do we lose the ability to produce and maintain normal estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone levels, the thyroid is forced to slow your metabolism so you don’t burn out. It is your body attempting to compensate and adjust to high stress levels. Think of it this way, your adrenal glands have the petal to the metal and you are about to blow your engine so the thyroid forces the RPMs down, slowing the engine. This means your thyroid is working; it is protecting you and slowing you down in an attempt to survive. So treating the thyroid with drugs that force the thyroid to speed up goes against the bodies’ wisdom. Instead, we should be looking for the reason the thyroid is slowing things down, address that issue, and restore function. Then the thyroid will return to normal on its’ own.

We can apply this same train of thought to all degenerative diseases. For instance, plaquing of the arteries as in cardiovascular disease. This is the bodies innate intelligence at work once again, not a failure or disease process. The body is plaquing the arteries in areas of weakness and pressure. Weak vessels under pressure will blow like a hose at the weakest point. The plaquing is protection. Instead of taking drugs to lower our blood pressure or statins to inhibit cholesterol levels perhaps we should be looking for the causes of the weakening of the blood vessels and heart muscle. Such as chronic inflammation, oxidation, calcification, deficiencies of vital nutrients, and the effects of toxicities and stress, etc… The blood pressure drugs and statins have major consequences long term and just create another set of circumstances and complications.

Let’s talk about heartburn. Apparently it is a disease now, referred to as acid reflux disease. This denotes that you have a disease that must be controlled by drugs. Not true! You simply have a loss of stomach function that can be restored. Once again compensatory physiology can explain this. Due to chronic stress and poor diet the stomach loses its protective mucus lining leaving the stomach open to irritation from the acid in your stomach. It is necessary to have a lot of acid in your stomach so you can activate enzymes to break down food. So taking a drug that inhibits acid production is not a good idea. Most of the time acid reflux is not because of too much acid at all. In fact, it is the opposite, not enough acid. Our body is so intelligent that it lowers the production of acid to avoid burning of the stomach wall, which can eventually lead to ulcers. As we lose the protective mucous lining of the stomach due to stress and poor diet the body shuts down acid production to protect itself. However, the consequences are that you cannot fully digest food so it sits in your stomach fermenting and this is what causes the burning feeling. In this case we simply have to turn off the stress response, provide the nutrients for the stomach to rebuild itself, and provide food enzymes to help digest the food properly. Restore function by providing the body what it needs to heal rather than taking a drug that only treats the symptoms and that you can become dependent on.

There are so many examples of compensatory physiology and most of the so called diseases that plague us can be healed thru natural means. We simply have to change the way we view the body and the way we approach health. Step outside the box and start asking more questions. We need to see past what we have been told because the truth has been lost to us. Hidden somewhere in the profits of drug companies, dogma, and traditions that make no sense. Let’s apply the great art of thinking and learn to understand and honor the body’s innate intelligence instead of trying to control and manipulate what we do not understand. The truth: give the body what it needs and it will heal. The body is always seeking and attempting to restore and maintain function and equilibrium. It is not trying to deregulate, dysfunction, and die. Your body is trying to live!

Degenerative diseases are not diseases. They are compensatory physiology. Evaluating for function with the right type of testing and then restoring function is where the focus of treatment should be. Drugs that treat symptoms are not the answer. There are powerful natural alternatives along with lifestyle changes that work and don’t have dangerous side effects. You do have choices. You do have the power to heal yourself, restore function, and live a long healthy life without the fear of inevitable disease looming over you. Seek knowledge and truth. Seek holistic alternatives and doctors that practice functional healthcare. True doctors take the time to educate, guide, and inspire their patients.

Cardiovascular disease is a degenerative condition that affects many people and takes more lives than any other disease. One American dies of heart disease every 30 seconds, and one from a heart attack every minute. After decades of time and billions of dollars spent, we are not any closer to improving these statistics. Conventional medicine does not prevent or reverse cardiovascular disease; instead it manages it with drugs for the rest of your life. Perhaps it is time to look at it differently and treat from a different angle.

All living systems are self-regenerating and self-repairing, so it is possible to both prevent and reverse degenerative disease. The alternative approach starts with asking two questions:

What is missing?

What is interfering?

As to what is missing – deficiencies in vital nutrients such as vitamins and minerals, and the right fats. Also, normal sleep patterns and proper exercise are missing.

As far as what is interfering – toxins, chronic stress, inflammation, poor digestion and blood sugar imbalances, poor liver function, and hormone imbalances.

The solution to this complex problem is simple. Provide what is missing and remove what is interfering. Then the body and its living systems will heal and regenerate.

The Five Steps to Preventing and Reversing Cardiovascular Disease

Eat organic whole “live” foods, processed foods are dead and do not provide essential nutrients. They are full of harmful toxins that have degenerative effects on your body. Also balancing blood sugar is essential. A diet high in carbohydrates will lead to insulin resistance, high triglycerides, and cause inflammation in the arteries.

Always supplement with a multivitamin, antioxidants, and fish oil. The body’s ability to function and regenerate is dependent on vital nutrients that we are not getting in our diets. Also supplementing with glandulars and herbs that are specific to the cardiovascular system is necessary. They are a very effective and natural alternative to rebuilding a damaged cardiovascular system.

Implement a detoxification program yearly to restore liver function and improve GI tract integrity. The liver plays a major role in your blood lipid levels. Unfortunately our livers are very depressed due to our toxic lifestyles and environment. It is important to up-regulate the liver so the body can detox, activate hormones, and balance the blood lipids. The integrity of our GI tract is important because it not only acts as a barrier to toxins, bad bacteria, viruses, and parasites; it also absorbs all the essential nutrients our body needs for energy and regeneration. As we lose the function and integrity of our GI tract we become susceptible, deficient, toxic, immune suppressed and systemic inflammation begins. This sets us up for degenerative and/or autoimmune diseases.

Restore the normal stress hormone cortisol pattern. An abnormal cortisol pattern is detrimental to the cardiovascular system because it is catabolic and has a degenerative effect. We also lose our ability to manage inflammation as our cortisol patterns deregulate due to chronic stress.

Balance the steroid hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA). These are our regenerative hormones. Without them you cannot regenerate and heal. As we lose normal hormone levels and patterns our body loses its ability to repair and rebuild leading to degenerative diseases such as cardiovascular disease. In addition, the consequences of these hormonal imbalances include sexual dysfunction for men, enlarged prostate, testicular and prostate cancer. For women low libido, and hormonal issues like PMS, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian cyst, cystic breast, and estrogen sensitive cancers such as breast, cervical, and uterine cancer.

Conventional lipid test are inaccurate and inadequate. They do not provide enough information to asses for risk of developing cardiovascular disease. A high cholesterol level by itself is not a risk factor, nor is a LDL/HDL ratio imbalance. What needs to be considered and tested is the level of inflammation. It is the combination of blood lipid imbalances and inflammation that is a risk factor. Add insulin resistance (blood sugar issues), chronic stress and hormonal imbalances and now you really have a problem. Yet none of these factors are being considered or tested properly to accurately assess for and diagnosis cardiovascular disease nor are they adequate enough for early detection and prevention. In addition, the conventional test does not distinguish that there are subclasses of HDL and LDL. Not all HDLs are good and not all LDLs are bad, yet this is how they have been labeled. HDL and LDL subclasses have not been defined accurately or tested.

Ask Your Doctor to Add These Tests to Your Blood Lipid Profile:

Apo B- an accurate LDL measurement. Apo B is a protein carried on each LDL. Increased Apo B especially with LDL subclass pattern B increases the risk for cardiovascular disease and the risk for unstable plaque formation. Unstable plaque is prone to rupture and cause blockages leading to heart attack or stroke

LDL subclasses

LDL pattern A – is the normal pattern and poses no risk factors

LDL pattern B – is an independent risk factor, meaning even if all other cardiovascular indicators are normal a person with LDL pattern B is at serious risk

HDL2 – HDL is made up of HDL2 and HDL3. While HDL2 is protective, levels of HDL3 may be a risk

Lipoprotein a – is a LDL particle that plays a role in the inflammatory healing response and is an independent risk factor

High Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP) – is a protein released into the blood stream whenever there is inflammation in the body and arteries. Inflammation in the arteries is a risk factor

Homocysteine – high levels cause inflammation in the arteries leading to atherosclerosis and or rupture of plaques

Hemoglobin A1C- indicator for high blood sugar averaged over a three month period. High blood sugar causes irritation and inflammation of the arteries and is a risk factor

Remember the body is self-regenerating and can heal. So whether you just want to prevent cardiovascular disease or recover and heal from it, there are many natural alternatives. It is possible to prevent and reverse the degenerative changes by giving the body what is missing and removing what is interfering. Implement the five steps to preventing and reversing cardiovascular disease. Chose a doctor that educates and supports you in achieving your health and wellness goals. Seek knowledge and truth.

When people think about wellness they often think about it from the neck down. Yet the health of your brain has a huge impact on the quality of your life as you mature. What you do now for the health of your brain will make a difference later in life, don’t wait. Memory loss is not a typical part of aging, in fact it may be a sign that degeneration is occurring in your brain.

Signs and Symptoms to Look for:

~Memory loss that disrupts daily life

~Challenges in planning or problem solving

~Difficulty completing task

~Trouble understanding visual images and spatial relationships

~Problems with words in speaking and writing

~Misplacing things

~Decreased or poor judgment

~Withdrawal from work or social activities

~Changes in mood and personality

Currently there is no cure/treatment for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. The treatments only attempt to slow the degeneration of the brain. It is best to take preventative measures. First consider the factors that may be affecting the brain. Always start with deficiencies. For example the B vitamins Thiamin, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine and Folic acid all play a role in neurotransmitter synthesis and function. Also, toxicity and liver function can play a role. If toxins accumulate in the brain the consequences are nerve cell interference and dysfunction. Other risk factors such as high blood pressure, heart disease, smoking, and alcoholism can contribute to the development of dementia. Also, diets low in the essential fats or too much processed foods can be detrimental to your brain. Processed foods are loaded with synthetic preservatives and monosodium glutamate, these are neurotoxins.

Six Steps to a Healthy Brain:

1- Eat your veggies and always supplement with a whole foods multi-vitamin, fish oil, B-vitamin complex

2- Implement a comprehensive detoxification program and go organic when possible

3-Get regular exercise to ensure a healthy cardiovascular system and healthy blood flow to the brain

4-Herbs such as gingko and bacopa help increase blood flow to the brain

5-Quit smoking and keep alcohol in moderation

6-Avoid processed foods with synthetic preservatives and monosodium glutamate

If spring and fall flare your seasonal allergies look to mother nature for relief. Sneezing, wheezing, runny nose, and itchy, watery, red eyes are the symptoms associated with pollen from trees, grass, and plants. Over the counter drugs just treat the symptoms and have many side effects. The first step to reducing and even healing an allergy is to heal the GI tract. The majority of your immune system is in the gut area. As we lose the structural integrity of our intestines this allows more exposure to allergens. These allergens are then able to cross over the protective immune barrier and get into the blood stream igniting an immune response. This is how an allergy is developed. Stress, alcohol and caffeine consumption, medications and poor nutrition all irritate and degenerate the GI tract making you susceptible to developing not only allergies but also auto immune diseases and toxicities. The first step to relieving and healing and allergy is to heal the GI tract by implementing a comprehensive detoxification program in the early fall and spring. A quality program addresses deficiencies, supports liver and kidney function, treats inflammation, reduces exposure to toxins, and restores the good bacteria in the gut.

There are healing modalities that support and restore function, calm the nervous system, and decongest the immune system. Acupuncture, Chiropractic, lymphatic massage, yoga and breathing techniques have all been known to help reduce and heal allergy symptoms. Also there are homeopathic, herbal remedies, and bach flowers that are very effective and have no side effects. Making dietary changes is essential. Reduce the acid producing and inflammatory foods like sugar, alcohol, and caffeine. Also, if you have a dairy or wheat/gluten sensitivity ingesting these will exacerbate your allergy symptoms. Include fruits, vegetables, and lots of water. Also cold water fish are rich in omega 3s which have anti-inflammatory effects. Always supplement your diet with a whole foods quality multi-vitamin, pro-biotic, and fish oil. You can add an antioxidant that has vitamins A, C, E, selenium, acetylcysteine, grapeseed extract, and quercetin during the fall and spring to give your body additional support thru the allergy seasons. Also add the spices ginger and turmeric to your food, they have powerful anti-inflammatory effects. Reduce foods that have trans fats, synthetic preservatives and sweeteners, and are over processed. Buy organic when you can.

There are many natural solutions to allergies that not only reduce the symptoms but can also heal them. The key is to reducing exposure and giving your body and immune system what it needs to handle the effects of seasonal allergies.

Beware of the effects of sugar!!!

Sugar Facts

~Sugar has a powerful effect on our metabolism; it stimulates the fat storing hormone insulin

~The body will always use sugar as an energy source over fat, even in small amounts

~Sugar depletes potassium, which creates an imbalance in the sodium potassium pump causing water retention and weight gain

~Sugar inhibits the fat burning effects of exercise

~ Sugar inhibits the secretion of the fat burning hormones: growth hormone and glucagon

~Sugar has a devastating effect on the immune system and the GI tract. In fact, it taxes every system in the body

~Sugar has adverse effects on the bodies PH levels; it is very acidic

~Sugar causes inflammation and inhibits healing

The Importance of Balancing Blood Sugars

Insulin is the hormone secreted from the pancreas in response to carbohydrates and sugar. Insulin is also a fat storing hormone so keeping your carbohydrates at a minimum, especially the simple sugars is a must. It doesn’t take many carbohydrates to send your insulin levels on a roller coaster ride. In fact, we do not need that many grains at all. As far as your fiber intake is concerned, if you are eating enough vegetables you should be getting plenty of fiber. The key to maintaining steady insulin levels is eating every 2-3 hrs. Never skip meals especially breakfast. Low blood sugar drives cravings for sweets and carbs, and stimulates the release of the stress hormone cortisol, further preventing fat burning. To prevent too much insulin always couple a carbohydrate with a protein and fat. For example, if you are eating a fruit for a snack always have a handful of nuts or natural nut butters with it. By adding a protein and fat you change the hormonal response to fat burning mode due to the influence of glucagon (fat burning hormone that is released when protein is ingested). If you just eat the fruit alone you will only get insulin which is fat storing.

Lose the Weight Loss Mentality

Today we are so focused on losing weight we lose focus of what is really important, our health and wellbeing. In reality you do not have a weight problem you have hormonal imbalances and a loss of the normal function of many body systems. The endocrine (hormonal) system being one of the them, but also your immune system, cardiovascular, digestive, musculo-skeletal, and nervous system. The focus should be on restoring and maintaining function of the body systems. As you restore your health your body will return to a healthy weight. Healing must occur on all levels starting at the brain, then the organ/gland level, and then at the cellular level. You are only as healthy as your cells are and therefore focusing on creating healthy cells makes more sense and will lead to greater success in returning your body to its healthy weight.

The basis of your wellness program should be to heal the metabolism. Starting with addressing deficiencies, toxicities, liver function, gastro-intestinal function, balancing blood sugars and lipids, and balancing hormones. Restoring function is priority.

Deficiencies in the essential proteins, fats, vitamin and minerals will damage and slow the metabolism. Also toxins that act like hormones in the body will create hormone imbalances making it impossible to maintain a healthy weight. For example some pesticides, plastics, and petrochemicals will mimic and act like hormones, particularly estrogen which is a fat storing hormone. Poor liver and bowel function will further slow the metabolism and further imbalance hormones. Also chronic stress and an imbalance in the stress hormone cortisol will slow the metabolism and can lead to symptoms of hypothyroidism. Last but not least, balancing blood sugars are crucial to a healthy metabolism.

Don’t fall into the sugar trap. Try to keep your blood sugars balanced by minimizing your sweet and carb intake. You will feel better and will prevent weight gain.
